About us
Back in 1981, Shirlie's father, Robert Dumey, bought his first Brittany, Duke, who was out of the Ban Dee bloodline. He did not know it at the time, but he had bought the best dog that he would ever have. Duke was a natural bob Brittany; he had absolutely no tail at all. As luck would have it, I began dating Shirlie just a few months later, and I caught the bird hunting fever and became a huge fan of Brittanies. Shirlie's dad bred some of the best Brittanies in Southeast Missouri. During all of the time that I hunted with Bob, he only hunted wild birds up until the early 1990's when a bird preserve opened up on the farm next to his home. That is when I first experienced preserve hunting and guiding for others.
Eventually, Shirlie's dad turned the dogs over to me, and now I have had the pleasure of raising, breeding, and training Brittanies for the past thirty years. Some of the bloodlines that I have are of course the Ban Dee line as well as Micro Dot, Nolan's Last Bullet, and Bean Blaze. We are not really into having a lot of litters of pups. We may have one litter a year if that. Usually, I wait until there is a list of people who wish to have a pup before I breed my dogs.
Currently, my dogs have the pleasure of travelling to Hermann, Missouri, on a regular basis where I guide and train. I guess it is fair to say that Brittanies and bird hunting are a major part of my life. I would have never guessed that when I showed up to Shirlie's house back in 1982.
